http://www.familysearch.org : At this website you can search for your ancestors, download Personal Ancestral File (free), select films from the Family History Library Catalog to be sent to the nearest Family History Center, and much more. And there is no charge!

http://www.ancestry.com : Here you can search for your ancestors for a limited time. After that, you must subscribe for a month or a year. I subscribe to Ancestry.com to almost everything they offer and have found it worth every penny. The US Federal Census has been my favorite.

http://www.rootsweb.com : RootsWeb.com is supported by Ancestry.com, but you can use it free of charge. There are several databases within RootsWeb, but WorldConnect is where you might your family tree.

http://www.genealogy.com : Genealogy.com is about the same as Ancestry.com. You have to subscribe to use their service.

http://www.cyndislist.com : Cindy's List is where you go to find links to literally thousands of websites where you can find your ancestors. There is no charge to use the website. Be sure to bookmark it in your browser.

http://www.sggee.org : This website is the Society for German Genealogy of Eastern Europe. It is where I found nearly two hundred birth, marriage and death records of my husband's ancestors. You can use the website free of charge, but you'll access far more if you are a member.

http://www.odessa3.org : The Odessa document collection consists primarily of digitized books and records plus indexes of microfilms and research aids that will enable you to trace individuals and families of Germans who emigrated to Russia since the early 1800s.

http://www.wolhynien.de/ : A specific website about Volhynia/Wolhynien. They have a good forum and many informations about parishes, schools and settlements in Volhynia.

http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm : Looking for a town in Germany or Eastern Europe? Click on this website, enter the name and you can choose from several possibilities. It will then take you to a map where the town is located.

http://www.ellisislandrecords.org : If you have ancestors who came to America through Ellis Island between 1892 and 1938 you might be able to find them by clicking on this website. It will show the original ship's manifest with his or her name, age at time of arrival, where they were living, where they were going to stay, etc. There is no charge to use this website.
